3.5.1 Open the code editor

On first open Studio checks whether editing components exist on device. If not, the page guides an automatic install — follow prompts.

Automatic install

  1. Studio checks for the editor environment.
  2. If missing, a confirmation dialog appears.
  3. Choose Continue to download and install components.
  4. Editor opens in the page when finished.

First install time depends on board network, image, and disk. Later opens are faster.

When to reinstall

Rarely needed manually. Retry per page guidance after:

  • Fresh image flash on device
  • Editor fails to start (corrupt/missing components)
  • Team image shipped without preinstalled editor bits

Signs of success

You should see a VS Code‑like layout: device tree, open buffers, integrated terminal. Persistent blank page or install errors — copy the UI text to Moss.
