3.4.2 Edit files

Open a text file from the corresponding work location, edit it, and save. This suits small configuration files, scripts, and text; use the code editor for broader project work.

Before saving

  1. Check whether the file is local or belongs to a specific device.
  2. Verify its full path and changes.
  3. Use Save or the save shortcut supported by the interface.
  4. Wait for success. On failure, preserve edits and follow the error.

After a device switch, older edits still belong to the original target. If an origin-mismatch message appears, return to that device before saving. Do not write old content onto the new target.

Model files, archives, and binaries should not be saved as text. Download them for complete copies. For large logs, extract the needed section with a terminal first.

Whether configuration changes require a service reload depends on the application. Confirm the save succeeded, then verify according to its instructions.
